2. Xin Peng La Mian Xiao Long Bao

Right outside Clementi Mall lies Xin Peng La Mian Xiao Long Bao, hidden inside a kopitiam. They sell affordable Shanghainese food, with their most popular item being the Xiao Long Bao. For $5, you get six pieces of juicy pork-filled dumplings. Try their Chicken Chop Noodles as well—priced at $5, you get a huge bowl of noodles with a generous amount of chicken, black fungus as well as some leafy vegetables. Located inside Clementi 448 Market and Food Centre is Boon Kee Wanton Noodle, a family-run stall that has been popular amongst residents. As the name suggests, they are famous for their Wanton Noodles, which cost $4 and $5 for the small and big sizes respectively. If you’re looking for a light bite, you can also opt for their sides, such as the Fried Dumpling ($5 for five pieces)

Mee Bagus is a Muslim-friendly stall selling renditions of local noodle dishes. At $7.30, the Mee Bagus Special is an upgraded version of halal bak chor mee. Ingredients include abalone squid slices, chicken breast meat, fishballs, meatballs, mushrooms, and a lava egg. For spice lovers, you can try the Volcano Ayam ($7.30), served with their volcano sambal on top of the above-mentioned ingredients. There are also side dishes such as Crispy Wonton ($5.50 for 12 pieces) if you want a small bite. Although the shop is located inside a kopitiam, it is decorated to make it feel like you’re dining in a modern, casual restaurant instead.

12. MADLYGOOD

Situated within The Clementi Mall lies MADLYGOOD, a cafe selling indulgent waffles, crepes, and more. They are known for their Original Buttermilk Waffles (from $11.50), in particular the Pistachio Creme Waffles ($16.50). Alternatively, opt for their Nutella Brownie Crepe ($14.50) if you like chocolate-laden desserts.

Soon Lee Porridge is well-known among residents for serving up hearty bowls of Hainanese Porridge. 14. Huang Tu Di Xi’An Delights

Focusing on Shaanxi Province cuisine, one Xi’An native set up Huang Tu Di Xi’An Delights to bring said cuisine to our shores. Located inside 321 Clementi, they specialise in the 3-in-1 Biang Biang noodles ($11.80) but also offer other options such as Zha Jiang Noodles ($9.50) and Rou Jia Mo ($6.80), otherwise known as the Meat Bun. The food is highly raved about by many since their portion is said to be huge. Most of their food is made to be really spicy, but you can opt to change it according to your taste.

The Braised Beef Noodle ($7.50) is packed with a robust flavour and stars ultra tender chunks of beef. But if you prefer something spicier, get the Sour Spicy Noodle ($7.90/$9.50) or Hot Chilli Oil Noodle ($5.80).
