Easy 2 ingredient Nutella
Did you know that you can whip up your very own creamy chocolate Nutella in just about ten minutes, from start to finish?
And did you know that the resulting spread will taste almost exactly like classic store bought Nutella?
If you’ve been too intimidated to try making Nutella at home, this super easy recipe is definitely the place to start.

Chocolate hazelnut spread ingredients
This may be the easiest recipe you ever make.
All you need for the DIY chocolate spread are chocolate chips and hazelnuts. Add a pinch of salt if desired.
Feel free to use dark chocolate chips, semi sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, or even white chocolate chips.
As a fun flavor variation, try peanut butter chips or butterscotch chips!
For convenience and to save time, I like to buy roasted hazelnuts. If you prefer to start with raw hazelnuts and roast them on your own at home, that is fine as well.

How to make the chocolate recipe
If your hazelnuts are raw instead of already roasted, you can roast them at home by spreading the nuts out in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and toast the nuts on the center rack for about seven minutes or until they are lightly browned.
Discard any hazelnuts skins that fall off easily. It is okay if some stubborn skins remain.
Process the nuts in a food processor or a strong blender until they achieve a completely smooth texture similar to creamy peanut butter.
Stop every few minutes to scrape down the sides. Depending on the strength of your machine, this step should take around five to ten minutes.
Tip: If you do not own a food processor or high speed blender, swap out the hazelnuts for one cup of hazelnut butter instead. No processing step is required for this option.
Carefully melt the chocolate chips, either in a microwave or by using the double boiler method.
Stir the melted chocolate sauce into the hazelnut butter, and process until it is evenly incorporated.
Transfer your homemade 2 ingredient Nutella to a mason jar or a covered container.
While it is fine to store the spread at room temperature for a few days, I recommend refrigerating the jar for optimum freshness.
Questions and tips for success
Is the recipe vegan and gluten free?
The 2 ingredient chocolate spread is naturally gluten free. As long as you use dairy free chocolate chips, it can also be vegan.
Can I make this hazelnut spread without a blender?
You can! If you do not own a food processor or a high speed blender, use one cup of store bought hazelnut butter instead of two cups of whole hazelnuts.
Simply stir the melted chocolate chips into the hazelnut butter to make your own instant Nutella spread.
Note: A regular blender will most likely not be strong enough to make homemade nut butter. I recommend either a Vitamix or a quality food processor like a Cuisinart.
How do I make keto Nutella?
This recipe can easily be low carb and sugar free if you use sugar free chocolate chips.

If you have a food processor or high speed blender, process just the nuts for about five to ten minutes, stopping every few minutes to scape down the sides. It will eventually turn into a smooth butter texture.(If you do not own a food processor or high speed blender, use one cup hazelnut butter instead of the two cups nuts. Use a spoon to mix.)Â Carefully melt the chocolate chips, then add the melted chocolate to the hazelnut butter and process until evenly incorporated. Transfer to a mason jar or covered container.
