Tororitenshi no Warabi-mochi: Japan-Famous Store Opens In VivoCity

Must Try

Tororitenshi no Warabi-mochi has opened at VivoCity

The warabimochi hype train shows no signs of slowing down, with store after store selling the Japanese dessert popping up everywhere—the most notable example being Warabimochi Kamakura. Tororitenshi no Warabi-mochi, a hugely popular brand with over 140 outlets in Japan, is the most recent to join this bustling scene, having opened its first Singapore store in VivoCity.

The best way to enjoy the brand’s classic flavours is to order the Original Warabi Mochi (from $7.80++). Made from bracken starch and then dusted with kinako AKA roasted soybean flour, you can expect a seriously smooth, silky treat packed with sweet and nutty flavour.

Add $3 to this order to get the teapot set, which lets you balance the warabimochi’s richness with some soothing green tea.

For something a little more unique, try the Singapore-exclusive Matcha Warabi Mochi w/ Ice Cream (from $9.80++). This dessert combines shaved ice, matcha-infused warabimochi, and vanilla ice cream, resulting in a treat that’s both refreshing and decadent. Like with the previous item, you can get this as part of a teapot set for an additional $3.

If you liked the warabimochi-infused beverages at Warabimochi Kamakura, then you’ll love the 14 different warabimochi drinks you can get here. These include the Kuromitsu Cafe Latte ($7.80++), Royal Milk Tea ($7.80++), and even yoghurt-based flavours such as the Strawberry Yoghurt ($9.80++).

But it is perhaps the Matcha Latte ($7.80++) that’s the most recommendable. This drink uses premium matcha from the popular green tea brand Ito-En, blended with rich, creamy milk for a smooth finish. And of course, the warabimochi’s jelly-like texture will make this drink extra fun to slurp up.

Don’t leave till you try the Signature Strawberry Parfait ($11.80++), where warabimochi, fresh strawberries, strawberry puree, dango, matcha ice cream and more are packed into this impressive treat. The adorable bear-shaped wafer that tops the whole thing gives it a ‘grammable edge, too!

We hear there are more Tororitenshi no Warabi-mochi outlets coming to Singapore, so stay tuned for more information! In the meantime, be sure to check out this exciting new entry to the warabimochi scene.
