Bakery 1946 will open at Bugis Junction with Korean breads
In February 2024, Bakery 1946 ran a successful pop-up in Bugis, which saw a snaking long queue almost every day as bread connoisseurs were determined to get their hands on these famous bakes. While many were devastated that the pop-up had ended, the bakery quickly turned those frowns into smiles after announced their opening at Suntec City. A month later, Bakery 1946 is back with another good news: they will be opening the second permanent outlet at Bugis Junction!

The new store is set to launch on the first floor of Bugis Junction. We don’t have much information yet, but we know the opening date is slated to be sometime in August—which is pretty soon!
If the menu is the same as their Suntec location, you can expect their signature K-Apple Bread ($6.20) here, starring sweet apple chunks and smooth cream cheese within.
During our visit to their Bugis pop-up, our favourite was the Whole Chestnut Bread (price TBD) as the combination of the mildly sweet roasted chestnut filling and hint of coffee flavour was incredibly moreish and delicious.
The runner-up would be their Corn Bread (price TBD), which featured a really chewy bread packed with corn kernels and cream cheese. There was something about this bread that had us going back for more—plus, we liked that the corn flavour wasn’t overpowering.
Anti-fans of carrots might have a different opinion of the Carrot Bread (price TBD) here as you can barely taste the vegetable.
The mochi-like bread is said to be made of actual carrots, and is generously filled with sweet cream cheese and bits of carrots.
We were a little sceptical about the Garlic Manju ($4) at first as it resembled a clove of garlic. But this savoury treat was surprisingly good—within the semi-crusty bread was a smooth white bean paste with a hint of garlic taste in every bite.
Something similar would be the Sweet Pumpkin Bread (price TBD), just that this comes with pumpkin bean paste that tastes sweeter than the sweet potato paste.
If you, like us, love anything with black sesame, their Black Sesame Cream Cheese Bread ($6) is a must-try. The bread is extra soft and chewy, almost resembling mochi bread! Plus, it’s loaded with a rich, earthy black sesame paste and smooth cream cheese, making for a hearty snack to have on the go.
