When a dear friend urged me to check out YODmilk Shop, I had no idea what to expect. Nestled along the bustling stretch of Jalan USJ 10/1B — where double-parking is practically a sport for those darting into the pharmacies and shophouses — this charming little spot was a delightful surprise. Stepping inside felt like wandering into a secret hideaway, a cosy escape from the chaos outside.
By the time I arrived, a little after 1pm, a line had already started to form. Most of the patrons — office workers squeezing in a quick lunch — greeted the owner at the counter like an old friend. Clearly, this spot specialising in bagels, coffee, and fresh milk had its fair share of loyal regulars.
Despite its modest size, YODmilk Shop didn’t feel stuffy. In fact, I stayed perfectly cool and comfortable the entire time I waited for my order. The atmosphere had a charming resemblance to a tiny Japanese shop (think izakaya vibes), with vintage posters adorning the walls.
There were just 3 tables for those who preferred to dine in, though most customers seemed to grab their orders to go. Thankfully, the ordering system was impressively efficient, and before I knew it, my number was called. Time to dig in!
What I tried at YODmilk Shop
The menu at YODmilk Shop had me spoiled for choice — I spent the entire car ride debating what to order. Their bagel lineup offers 4 tempting options: Charcoal (RM5.80), Cranberry (RM5.80), Cocoa (RM5.80), and Original (RM4.80). You can enjoy your bagel plain or customise it with a filling of your choice.
After much deliberation, I decided on the Original Bagel with Coriander Cream Cheese as my savoury pick. The total? A very reasonable RM9.60. When my order arrived, I was pleasantly surprised — the bagel was big! The coriander pieces were also much larger than I expected, which added a fun, bold touch. Time for the taste test.
The moment I sank my teeth into the bagel, my jaw rejoiced — it was just that satisfying. The exterior had that perfect leathery, crispy texture a good bagel should have, while the interior was dense yet soft.
It struck the ideal balance, something I rarely find in KL. Typically, bagels here are either too hard (authentic but jaw-breaking) or too soft, veering dangerously close to donut territory. But this one from YODmilk Shop? Absolute perfection.
The coriander cream cheese was a revelation — smoother than I expected, rich but not the least bit overwhelming. On its own, the cream cheese might have been a tad too mild, but paired with the robust coriander pieces? It turned into an absolute flavour bomb. The overall taste was refreshing, and the coriander even added an unexpected crunch.
(Side note from future me: I finished the rest of the bagel nearly 3 hours later at home, and it still tasted just as fresh and delicious as when I first got it.)

That was undeniably a fantastic start! Next up: a sweet treat to switch things up — Cranberry Bagel with Almond Honey Cream Cheese (RM11.60). As I picked it up, I couldn’t help but admire the cranberry bits speckling the exterior. However, I noticed it felt a bit tougher compared to the Original Bagel, perhaps due to the cranberries or a touch of over-toasting.
My first bite confirmed my suspicion — it was a little chewier than I’d have liked. While the cranberries delivered a bold and tangy punch, the toughness of the bagel did take away from the experience.
The filling, though? Chef’s kiss. The almond honey cream cheese was everything I’d hoped for and more. The generous almond chunks added a delightful crunch to every bite, while the honey’s sweetness paired beautifully with the creamy base. Honestly, if they sold tubs of this filling, I’d buy one in a heartbeat and slather it on everything — toast, donuts, or even straight off the spoon!
Final thoughts
Overall, my experience at YODmilk Shop was definitely above average. At first glance, the cream cheese to bagel ratio might seem a bit modest, but each bite proved to be a perfectly balanced mouthful of creamy goodness.
While the Cranberry Bagel didn’t quite hit the mark, the Almond Honey Cream Cheese more than made up for it. And as for the Original Bagel with Coriander Cream Cheese? Absolute perfection — no notes.
The friendly owner and speedy service added to the charm. It’s also a great little spot to enjoy some quality me-time (like I did!). Without a doubt, I’ll be back for more.
