Here are two easy ways to make BBQ pork chops on the stovetop or baked in the oven and taste like they were done on the grill outdoors.

This recipe is perfect for any kind of weather rain or shine made indoors with that taste of outdoor grilling so you can enjoy that charred taste until the grilling season starts.

If you’re not a pork chop fan, just substitute chicken or your favorite cut of steak.

This recipe for homemade BBQ is not too sweet or spicy and perfect to use on other recipes like our pulled pork or oven-roasted pulled chicken.

Easy Tips to Make the Best BBQ Pork Chops

  1. Make the homemade BBQ sauce first
  2. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees if baking and grease a baked pan with olive oil
  3. For the stovetop (or grill outdoors heat the grates first) heat the pan first  for 5 minutes before searing the meat
  4. Although I prefer to sear the meat first and then bake it, this step isn’t necessary we will give you several options in the recipe card below
  5. For the stovetop and grill add the BBQ sauce on top and simmer for around 4 to 5 minutes after the meat is cooked
  6. Internal temperature needs to reach 145 degrees using an instant-read thermometer

Simple BBQ Sauce

This simple BBQ sauce can be used on chicken, steak, pork, and even hamburgers and it will keep fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks in a covered jar.

The sauce is also great for using as a dipping sauce and if you would like it spicy just add a few teaspoons of hot sauce.

This is a milder basic sauce and terrific for baking, grilling, and stovetop use.

Baked or Grilled BBQ Pork Chops

Baked or Grilled BBQ Pork Chops

This is the perfect Texas-style BBQ sauce for a grilled or stovetop-cooked pork chops recipe. It’s super easy and delicious.

Ingredients

  • BBQ Sauce Recipe Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 center-cut pork chops (bone-in)
  • Note: you can substitute homemade for your favorite bottled store bought BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Make the BBQ sauce first.
  2. In a small bowl whisk the ingredients for the sauce until evenly blended.
  3. Pour into a saucepan and simmer for 4 minutes.
  4. Add to a mason jar covered until ready to use.
  5. The sauce needs to be refrigerated and will last up to 3 weeks.
  6. Grilled Chops:
  7. Indoors:
  8. Heat a grill-gridded pan till it’s hot then add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
  9. Sear both sides of the pork chops for around 10 minutes on each side.
  10. The chops are done cooking at 145 degrees internal temperature.
  11. Top with BBQ sauce and continue to simmer for 5 minutes.
  12. Serve with more BBQ sauce for dipping.
  13. Option for Stovetop and then finish in the oven:
  14. Heat the oven to 400 degrees.
  15. In a cast iron skillet with grids, sear the chops for around 3 minutes on each side.
  16. Place in the pan with chops into the oven with BBQ sauce on top and finish cooking in the oven for around 20 minutes.
  17. Outdoor Grilling:
  18. Preheat and oil spray the grates of the grill for 10 minutes.
  19. After the grill is heated add the pork chops on the grill, with the heat to medium, over the direct heat.
  20. Sear on both sides turning just once and ensuring you get a deep grill mark around 4 to 5 minutes per side.
  21. Add the sauce for around 1 minute on top of each chop just before cooking is completed.
  22. Oven Baked BBQ Pork Chops without Searing First:
  23. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  24. In a large deep casserole dish, oil spray the pan then spread a little BBQ sauce on the bottom.
  25. Add the pork chops and around 2 tablespoons on each pork chop.
  26. Bake at 375 degrees for around 25 minutes then check the internal temperature to be at 145 degrees for completion of cooking.
  27. Continue cooking for 5 more minutes if not cooked and check again.
