Anyone with a voracious appetite knows the pain of self-restraint when you’re at a lok lok place—a few more tasty skewers are just an order away, but the already massive bill you’ve racked up looms over you. An easy solution to that problem is to dine at a lok lok buffet such as A.K Zai Lok Lok, an eatery situated in Chinatown.
For $19.90++ per person, you get to binge on 40 types of lok lok here. Do note that this $19.90++ price is for lunch only; should you wish to visit for dinner, it’s $23.90++ instead.
You can have your lok lok deep-fried or boiled in a soup of your choice. For fried options, our favourites were the scallop, bacon-wrapped enoki, and pork belly skewers.
An additional $10++ is required to boil your lok lok in one of the following soup bases: tom yum, curry, mala, laksa, and pork broth. With the spicy kick of the tom yum soup infused into our lok lok, we thoroughly enjoyed skewers such as the smoked duck slices and tiger prawns.
Though these skewers are plenty delicious on their own, the sheer variety of sauces here, ranging from satay to chilli crab sauce, will introduce diverse flavours to your feast.
Do note that the buffet has a two-hour time limit. Should there be more than five leftover skewers, wastage charges will be applied. Just bring the most competitive eaters you know, and you’ll be fine on that front.
Besides being just a cheap buffet spot, A.K Zai Lok Lok also has a cat cafe within the same premises, located on the second floor! Feline fans can look forward to spending time with the cafe’s in-house residents at a low fee of $9++ per person on weekdays and $12++ on weekends. Each session is one hour long and includes free-flow drinks.
