Brooos & Co is an office-themed cafe in Johor Bahru
If you’ve been to many cafes in Johor Bahru, there’s a high chance you’d have come across JWC The Factory 30, a popular cafe with close to 1,500 Google reviews at the point of writing. Run by the same team, Brooos & Co is an office-themed cafe that’s a 15-minute drive from the customs.
Fellow working adults will find solace as soon as you’re nearing the entrance as you’ll be greeted with metallic display boards that read “Leave Work On Time” and “Not Paid Enough For OT”.
Having walked under the sun for the whole day, we had to get a cup of the popular Pls Ta Chill (RM18++/~S$5.10) to quench our thirst. This bittersweet drink is made with milk, espresso, and pistachio paste. And here’s the best part: you get crushed pistachio bits on the rim of the cup. I thought this added a nice textural contrast to the smooth, velvety latte.
During our conversation with the staff, we found out that there’s a happy hour promotion every weekday from 5pm to 8pm. This explains why we got the File Finder (RM25++/~S$7.10) and Drama Queen (RM20++/~S$5.70) for RM15++/~S$4.30 each.
File Finder features a gin base with apple, lychee, and sea salt, while Drama Queen, featuring a gorgeous maroon shade, stars a tequila base with guava, plum, and cranberry.
The former felt like a refreshing quencher, while the latter was reminiscent of an iced plum tea.
To go with our drinks, we also ordered the JWC Tacos (RM50++/~S$14.20) which come in three different flavours: Smoked Salmon, Smoked Duck, and Pulled Chicken.
The Smoked Duck taco was my personal favourite for two simple reasons: it was meaty and it came loaded with guacamole. You also get guacamole in the Smoked Salmon and pickled onions that add a lovely tang. Else, you’ll like the Pulled Chicken taco if you’re all about punchy flavours! There’s a distinctly spicy, tomatoey flavour mellowed by the sour cream and pomegranate.
Besides the yummy drinks and friendly staff, the Gen Z-coded ambience made our visit worthwhile.
Printers are indispensable to any office, so the cafe even has a couple of “dolled-up” printers, made pretty and less boring with the addition of plants and flowers.
If this spot tickles your fancy, check out Keijometo cafe, an industrial cafe with mentaiko tamago sando, watermelon matcha latte and more. Otherwise, check out The Blue Door Coffee House for pistachio mochi croissant and creme brulee latte.
