CHAGEE has gained global recognition as one of the few tea beverage brands that doesn’t offer pearls or toppings in its teas. Instead, they incorporate fresh milk and real tea leaves in their beverages to ensure high-quality drinks for their customers. Since their initial launch in 2017, they have been dominating the tea beverage market in China and have now made their comeback to Singapore once again!
Looking for a reason to head down to CHAGEE? From August 9 to 11, 2024, you’ll have the chance to receive an exclusive CHAGEE magnet with the purchase of two large cups of Fresh Milk Tea. Act fast—these magnets are available while stocks last!
With 2 different outlets in Singapore – one in Plaza Singapura and the other in Orchard Gateway, (and coming up with a third in Raffles City!) CHAGEE Singapore features a whole new concept. Showcasing a cafe-like atmosphere, you can now comfortably sit down and enjoy your beverages in their aesthetically pleasing stores with gorgeous artwork, moving away from the previous grab-and-go concept.
Their operational system for preparing the Fresh Milk Tea series is particularly noteworthy. Utilising state-of-the-art machinery to ensure shorter wait times and consistent flavour, each order is assigned a unique QR code in their semi-automated process. This code is then scanned by their tea-making machine, which automatically prepares your drink to perfection!
More than that, CHAGEE Singapore is also the very first country in the world to feature their modern Tea Bar concept in every single CHAGEE store. They are equipped with specialised teapresso machines and tea leaf grinders – kind of like espresso but for tea – for their Tea Latte series. Also, they have a tea-on-tap section where their Iced Oriental Teas are prepared and poured into bottles for you to enjoy.

What I tried at CHAGEE Singapore
Fun fact: I’m a full-on tea drinker, so needless to say, this was heaven for me. In total, we were presented with 5 out of their 8 drinks spanning across the different drink series. Here’s what we tried.Â
First up, the Jasmine Green Milk Tea (Regular, S$4.90/ Large, S$5.90) from their Fresh Milk Tea series knocked it out of the park immediately and was one of my favourites. On the palate, it bore notes of floral, sweet, and delicate flavours.Â
The milk made the drink creamier without feeling too overwhelming. Also, we got this drink at a 100% sugar level, and it was still easy for me to digest as I’m not much of a sweet tooth – off to a strong start, for sure!
Next up from the Fresh Milk Tea series is Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea (S$4.90/S$5.90). Osmanthus isn’t as floral as other flowers – it’s slightly lighter and sweeter – almost akin to honey. Which is why it’s a good thing we opted for 50% sugar for this one. However, the toasty, aromatic oolong was the perfect balance between rich, but somewhat refreshing on the palate.
Last from the Fresh Milk Tea series is the Da Hong Pao Milk Tea (S$4.90/S$5.90). This one we got hot instead of iced just for kicks. Known as the quintessential Wuyi oolong, Da Hong Pao showcases a slightly toasty, rich, satisfying body with a lot of presence and a lingering sweet aftertaste on the palate. The hot tea is something I would have on a nice cold day – maybe during monsoon season!
The last 2 drinks we got to try were from their Teaspresso Latte series and the Snowcap Milk Tea series respectively.
The Tangerine Peel Pu-Er Tea Latte (S$5.90) was prepared in a rather interesting way. Typically, lattes are made with a coffee or tea base before being topped off with milk; however, here, the base is iced fresh milk. The teaspresso shot is then made in the machine – as you would with regular espresso – and then poured over the iced milk before being served.
Pu-er is definitely one of the stronger tea flavours I’ve tried, and with it in teaspresso form, it just enhanced all the earthy, nutty, and even bitter flavours. However, once everything was mixed together, the bitterness subsided, making it easier to drink with its slight sweetness – although it still had that touch of earthy herbaceous notes.
The Da Hong Pao Snow Cap Milk Tea (S$6.90) was personally another favourite of mine – cause it’s just so pretty! Featuring an iced Da Hong Pao milk tea, this drink is topped with whipped white peach fresh cream and sprinkled with dried figs for extra texture.
The cream itself was incredibly soft and airy, and the dried figs added a certain layer of sweetness and fun texture to the mix. The staff at CHAGEE suggested mixing the cream with the milk tea. My god, it worked amazingly well, adding a layer of creaminess and sweetness without feeling overwhelming.
Final Thoughts
With over 5,000 stores worldwide, it’s no wonder CHAGEE has been such a hit with the locals since their return to Singapore. Their dedication to the quality of their craft shows, and if you haven’t tried their beverages yet, this is your sign to! Best believe that this will be my new favourite haunt for catching up with friends or even working remotely.
