Word is in: Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu, Japan’s largest gyukatsu specialty restaurant with more than 70 outlets worldwide, is opening in Singapore. You can finally try the famous beef cutlet at Raffles City Shopping Centre sometime in early September 2024.

At Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu, you can expect a range of high-quality beef cuts served deep-fried to the ideal medium rare. The crispy, golden brown exterior is known as koromo batter, which is essentially a traditional Japanese culinary method comprising beaten eggs, bread crumbs, flour, and cold water.

According to the online menu on their official website, there are five different beef cuts: Sirloin, Wagyu, Chuck Tail Flap, Tenderloin, and Tongue. Better yet, you can opt for the Half & Half to try two different cuts! For example, you can enjoy the Sirloin Gyukatsu with Tongue Gyukatsu, and their Chuck Tail Flat Gyukatsu with Tenderloin Gyukatsu.

There’s a lovely variety of dipping sauces to pair with the beef cutlet: dashi soy sauce, sansho pepper salt, and the must-have gyukatsu sauce. Each set also comes with a bowl of rice and miso soup, their signature onsen egg, a side of Japanese radish covered in citrus soy sauce, and Kyoto-style curry!

We’ll update this space with more information soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
