The old Jurong West Food Centre was home to 3 Michelin Bib Gourmand awardees Du Du Shou Shi, Jian Bo Shui Kueh, and Soh Kee Cooked Food. Following the reopening, they have returned to business, whipping up their specialities for eager customers.

Du Du sells authentic tutu kueh, that nostalgic favourite of so many of us. The kuehs come in either Big (S$0.80 per piece) or Small (S$4 for 4 pieces) and in Peanut and Coconut flavours.

Both portions possess the same steamy, soft chewiness and fragrance from the pandan leaves. The “XL tutu kueh”, as netizens have named it, made headlines a while back, so do head down to the stall to check it out.

While we are on the topic of steamed rice cakes, Jian Bo specialises in – as the name suggests – Teochew shui kueh. It’s a savoury option, served with enough chai poh (preserved radish) and hei bee hiam (dried shrimp chilli) to make you salivate.

The signature Jian Bo Shui Kueh (S$3.60 for 5pcs, S$5.60 for 8pcs, S$7 for 10 pcs) and Chee Cheong Fun (S$3 to S$4.50) are some dishes you can pick up for a hot bite. Furthermore, the flavourful Hei Bee Hiam comes in a gift pack (S$14.30) that can be purchased at all outlets.

For a full meal, consider Soh Kee Shou Shi. It has been praised in the Michelin Guide for good quality food and “good value cooking”, and it’s easy to see why. Prices range from S$2.50 for a bowl of Chicken Porridge to S$3.50 for Fish, Cuttlefish or Mixed Porridge. Tasty and affordable.

These Michelin stalls are only 3 of the many in the newly revamped food court. So Westies, 505 Market & Food Centre in Jurong West is a great place to search for your next meal.
