Makan Mee: Automated 24-Hour Instant Noodle Cafe In Ubi

Must Try

Makan Mee is an automated 24-hour instant noodle cafe

For those with the late-night urge to have some instant noodles, there’s perhaps no better place to visit than Makan Mee. Located below a HDB block in Ubi, this instant noodles cafe is entirely automated, with no staff in sight. This allows it to be open 24 hours every day, which isn’t the case for the other instant noodle cafes around.

At Makan Mee’s vending machines, you can choose from over 40 varieties of instant noodles, with brands such as Nissin, Indomie, Samyang, MAMA and more. There are also a good number of snacks and drinks available as well.

Some recommended picks include MAMA Oriental Kitchen’s unique flavours such as Carbonara Bacon ($4.50) and Truffle ($4.50), as well as Korean favourites including Jin Ramen ($4) and the various ultra-spicy Samyang Noodles (from $4.50).

After selecting your preferred packet of noodles, you can cook it using the cafe’s automated induction cookers.

You just have to place your noodles and toppings into one of the paper bowls provided and leave them on the induction cooker. Then, watch as it fills your bowl with hot water and cooks the noodles till they are ready to consume.

And if you’re having dry instant noodles, Makan Mee provides strainers for you to get rid of that excess water before saucing your noods up. All of this makes consuming instant noodles remarkably convenient, so kudos to Makan Mee for coming up with such a clever system.
