Lovers of all things baked, some good news this December – shio pan brand Shio & Sato is back with pre-orders for their viral shio pan.
Owned by Genevieve Lee, who many know as the runner-up of MasterChef Singapore season 1 and the owner of Sourbombe Bakery, Shio & Sato is her latest venture, specialising in – you guessed it – shio pan.
The brand made its debut at a popup in Oct 2024 as part of Takashimaya’s food fair, and became a huge success. Genevieve reported that the popup sold as many as 1,000 buns on weekdays, and up to 1,500 on weekends. Eventually, purchases had to be limited to 6 per pax due to demand.
If you missed the opportunity to try her shio pan at the popup, don’t fret, because here’s your chance. This December, you can preorder these addictive baked goods at Shio & Sato’s new website. The brand has no physical store at the moment, so preorders have to be self-collected at Wisma Atria, B1-44.
For the uninitiated, a shio pan is a marriage of a Japanese-style soft butter roll and a crusty French-style bread roll. It has a soft and chewy interior, a light crust, and a buttery “fried” base, along with a light sprinkling of salt.
The shio pans will be available in 3 different sets.
The SHIO 塩 (S$34) set consists of 1 of each flavour: Kombu, Green Chili Onion, Tamago, Miso Butter Corn, Mushroom Truffle and 1 new flavour, Kimcheese.
The SATO 砂糖 (S$38.60) set comprises of 2 of each of the following flavours: Hokkaido Cream, Matcha Strawberry, and Chocolate Cream.
And for the purists, there is the Original Shio Pan Set of 6 (S$21.60), featuring 6 of Shio & Sato’s delicious shio pans in their natural glory.
